That 2.0 will literally and figuratively outlive every other component on that car.

That being said, mine (1987 Sedan) finally went to the Dealership in the Sky with 220k on the clock. Tons of life left in that thing. Sadly, NP.

There is something that is just charming about it. Its pissing me off because I shouldn't care for it at all.

I know it'll be slow as shit, but that motor is nearly impossible to kill. And in my area, I believe it was driven by old people and cared for only at the dealer.

Slow, yeah. Overbuilt, too. I hillhopped the everloving shit out of mine on a regular basis and it still just kept begging for more.

How many bits do you think I could take from a 'Vette of that era and bolt onto this?

I like the idea that if it does die, I can go to the local pick and pull yard and I know Ill be able to find something that'll work!

That's a good question... Maybe a digital dash would work! Then wheels and seats... drivetrain, suspension, and front/rear end treatments and you have a proper corvette sedan!

Id like to make a "Vette wagon" I know there is a guy on my craigslist parting out a 88 or 89 Vette... interior looked perfect. Bolt those seats in, put bigger rims on, maybe lower it a little...

WAIT WHY AM I THINKING INTO THIS SO MUCH?

DO IT. DO IT NOW! Graft on front/rear treatments and you just turned an honest, humble car into a badass bucket of WAT.

Drop in an LS motor and make an insane sleeper.

This thing is like 5 minutes from me, I may have to go look at it

I really want to say CP, but those were actually fairly reliable (at least by 80's GM standards) If it isn't your daily, then yeah, go ahead. Worst case senario, when it gets to the point of no return, LeMons it!

Itd be more of a dumb project-ish car that I would drive every once in a while, like maybe once every two weeks.

I want to make it a sleeper almost and start swapping some Corvette bits into it. Kind of tempting.

I think like me you just are sick of gaudy flashy cars and want something plain and boring that has limited value to the outside world and low performance but that can be experimented upon to maximize its awesomeness. I have this wierd attraction to really small hatchbacks and russian cars.

I want that wagon too! Its the white paint the boringness the wagoness the steering wheel is cool and the dash looks neat but also cuz I want to put a turbo ecotec and six speed manual in it.

I have a really bad bug for mid-late 80s boxy things. Volvo 240s, Chrysler K Cars (really want a Lebaron convertible, god knows why) and now a boxy Chevy wagon...

Its odd because I was born in 98... my parents never drove anything like these. I never had any experience in or around one. So I dont know why I want it

I saw a chevy 4 door chevette in a driveway yesterday I lusted after it! I was born in 82 but I dont remember the boxy cars or didnt pay attention. for the longest time we had GM fullsize vans and a cutlass supreme white with maroon interior that car was awesome but my dad says the motor was a dog...I think it means it was slow.

CP all the way. I taught a friend how to drive on one of those 20 years ago and it was junk then and they are junk now. Maybe it's in nice shape, but that car gets a CP from me at any price. The speedometer needle broke and fell off! You could still guess at the speed because the center of the needle had the line painted on it, so you could see it going around, but what a piece of garbage.

This is a perfect example of a car that used to be all-too-common and is now a relatively rare sight. Like the first gen Taurus, these sold super well but have not stood the test of time well at all. They were and are seen as throwaway cars, I guess. But I like them. I'm always intrigued when I see an older J-Body out and about.

Honestly, these cars are kinda neat and charming despite being spartan, like an old VW. I say go for it... practical, uncommon, well kept, and probably reliable!

My old man had a '92 white on red Cutlass. Had the indestructible 3.8 in it too. Put almost 550 thousand kilometers on it before it rusted so badly the left rear wheel fell off when were changing off of the snow tires. Still miss that car and still get excited whenever I see one in the wild.
